Exploring Case studies in Power BI

Recreations of graphs found online, replicated in Power BI (or at least approximate) using DAX and core visuals.
Each serves as a case study to explore techniques and approaches.

CS-01: Creating a Histogram with negative values

  • Ignore Negative: don’t include negative values in bin, as frequency refers to count of occurrences, which can never be negative.
  • Absolute Value: treat negative as positive to see absolute frequency in a data.
  • Dual Axis: showcase both negative and positive frequency in opposite direction.

Inspired by Anastasiya Kuznetsova’s article Anatomy of the KPI Card,’ I’ve created my own version in Power BI, aiming to replicate (though not entirely) the elements she highlights.

Using data from Conindustria’s external commerce map, I created a visualization of Venezuela’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) incorporating presidential terms. This visualization dynamically displays data labels through a slicer and features shaded areas for added clarity.
